Our Story

Biomimicry Frontiers was founded in 2017 by Jamie Miller, a PhD engineer, award-winning designer, and one of the world's leading practitioners of biomimicry. Trained by Janine Benyus, recognized as a "New Centurion" by the David Suzuki Foundation, and named the world’s first “Director of Biomimicry” for a global corporation in 2021, Jamie has been studying and applying biomimicry since 2004.

Today, Biomimicry Frontiers sits at the centre of an unmatched network. As the Director of Regenerative Design and Biomimicry — a joint appointment across B+H and world-leading sustainability firm Atelier Ten, within the SJ Group family of companies — Jamie brings clients access to institutional depth and global reach that no other biomimicry practice can offer.

Our team is a deliberately assembled network of diverse expert partners, including deep partnerships with Indigenous Peoples, where biomimicry serves as a bridge in the ongoing work of reconciliation. Together, we deliver the most sustainable solutions to today's most complex challenges, drawing on 3.8 billion years of nature's research and development for how to thrive on this planet
