Biomimicry Frontiers helped a landowner push the boundaries of habitat design. Partnering with B+H Architects, we successfully applied biomimicry and biophilic designs to his house design. The process included an in-depth four-stage investigation and design; researching the local conditions and organisms, biological abstraction and problem disruption, biomimetic and biophilic design scenarios and finally, multiple iterations towards a final conceptual design.
In Vietnam, we helped B+H Architects navigate the design of a 200-hectare development on a river delta - assessing the many ecozones on the landscape and providing strategies for how to passively integrate into the dynamic nature of those zones. The project was awarded “Best Urban Design Concept” by Rethinking the Future.
Biomimicry Frontiers successfully partnered with the City of Guelph in their successful bid for $10M from Industry Canada to lead Canada’s first Circular Food Economy. This includes compiling research and managing a pilot neighbourhood “patch” model that seeks to eliminate waste streams and inspire local, circular businesses.
