AN INDIGENOUS-LED LAND STRATEGY
What if the land became the brief before design began? At Six Nations of the Grand River, our Living Story methodology brought Haudenosaunee knowledge, GIS, ecology and future climate risk together to reveal where to build, where not to build, and how working with natural systems can reduce costs and long-term risk.
THE 21st CENTURY VILLAGE
The 21st Century Village is a master plan for a future community in Ontario -designed around the traditions of village building. This is a prototype for 5,000 villages in Ontario that re-ignite entrepreneurship, within a civic responsibility, where people are connected to each other, to their place, and to their own individual genius. Imagine a village where everything you need is exactly where you are.
A REGENERATIVE HOME
Biomimicry Frontiers helped a landowner push the boundaries of habitat design. Partnering with B+H Architects, we successfully applied biomimicry and biophilic designs to his house design. The process included an in-depth four-stage investigation and design; researching the local conditions and organisms, biological abstraction and problem disruption, biomimetic and biophilic design scenarios and finally, multiple iterations towards a final conceptual design.
